Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Programming Languages: Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ with demonstrated experience in low-level system engineering
- GPU Programming: Extensive experience with at least one of the following:
- Apple's Metal framework and Core ML with custom Metal compute shaders
- Cross-platform GPU APIs (Vulkan, OpenGL, OpenCL) with strong preference for Vulkan compute shaders
- Performance Optimization: Proven track record in performance profiling and optimization of GPU-bound workloads
- Rust Programming: Proficiency in Rust for performance-critical components
Machine Learning Expertise
- Deep understanding of Large Language Model (LLM) architectures and attention mechanisms
- Experience with machine learning inference engine development and optimization
- Knowledge of quantization techniques and their GPU implementations
- Familiarity with modern neural network architectures and training methodologies
System Architecture Knowledge
- Solid understanding of modern GPU architectures (Apple Silicon, Adreno, Mali, Intel)
- Experience with parallel algorithm design for GPUs including loop tiling, memory coalescing, and shared memory management
- Knowledge of compiler and compute concepts such as work-group sizing, barrier usage, and memory access patterns
Highly Desirable Qualifications
Open Source Contributions
- Prior experience modifying and contributing to open-source ML projects like llama.cpp or similar frameworks
- Active participation in the machine learning and GPU computing communities
- Portfolio demonstrating significant contributions to performance-critical projects
Specialized Experience
- Hands-on experience with low-bit quantization techniques (1.58-bit and similar) in production environments
- Experience with Android NDK and building high-performance applications for mobile ecosystems
- Background in research or production deployment of on-device AI solutions
Advanced Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of GPU memory hierarchies and optimization strategies
- Experience with advanced GEMM optimizations and backward-pass implementations
- Knowledge of kernel fusion techniques and memory bandwidth optimization
- Familiarity with various GPU vendor-specific optimization techniques
