The role includes providing counseling, supporting student wellbeing, contributing to preventive programs, and collaborating with staff and families to ensure a safe, supportive learning environment, while upholding the school’s expectations, ethos, and culture.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Support
-
Provide individual and group counseling
-
Support students with emotional, behavioral, and social needs
-
Develop and implement individual student support plans
-
Support transition and onboarding of new students
-
Provide support in crisis situations
2. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
-
Design and implement social-emotional learning initiatives
-
Deliver classroom-based SEL sessions where appropriate
-
Support development of self-regulation, emotional awareness, and interpersonal skills
3. Collaboration with Staff
-
Advise teachers on student wellbeing and behavior strategies
-
Support classroom management approaches
-
Participate in student support and intervention meetings
4. Parent Engagement
-
Conduct parent consultations
-
Provide guidance on student wellbeing and development
-
Participate in meetings with families when required
5. Assessment and Monitoring
-
Conduct psychological assessments within scope of practice and RK regulations
-
Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and well-organized documentation, including:

student files
-
meeting notes
-
individual and group session records
-
student support meeting minutes
-

Monitor and review student progress
6. Safeguarding and Compliance
-
Contribute to safeguarding and child protection procedures
-
Maintain strict confidentiality of all student information and records
-
Ensure secure storage and handling of all documentation in line with school policies
-
Ensure compliance with school policies, including the KIS Staff Handbook
-
Support and uphold the school’s expectations, ethos, and culture in all aspects of professional practice
Qualifications and Requirements
-
Degree in Psychology or Educational Psychology
-
Eligibility to work as a psychologist under Republic of Kazakhstan regulations
-
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience (preferred)
-
Knowledge of child and adolescent development
Skills and Competencies

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to build trust with students, staff, and parents

Professional judgment and ethical practice

Ability to work collaboratively within a school setting
Language Requirements

Proficiency in English (required)

Knowledge of Russian and Kazakh (preferred)
