We are looking for a highly skilled Head of Product Engineering to join our innovative product team as a full-time member. In this role, you will play a central part in ensuring improvements and features are delivered on time, on budget, and meet all business requirements.

This is a strategic technical leadership role that demands a broad enterprise software architecture perspective and expert-level Agile team management. A solid prior background in software development is a must.

Work format: Remote (within compatible time zones) or from our comfortable office in the historic city center of St. Petersburg.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Planning & Delivery: Apply advanced project management techniques to balance scope, quality, time, and cost. Oversee the entire SDLC to ensure alignment with product criteria. Proactively identify risks, mitigate bottlenecks, and report progress directly to the Leadership Team.
• Team Leadership & Scale: Lead, mentor, and coach multiple distributed, cross-functional engineering teams across different time zones and cultures. Foster accountability, promote an empowerment-driven culture, and develop team members.
• Engineering Excellence & Modernization: Drive continuous improvement, CI/CD evolution, and AI-assisted/agentic SDLC practices. Manage a senior-heavy squad model. Successfully modernize the live stack while keeping the stable installed customer base completely secure.
• Roadmap & Priority Management: Collaborate closely with Product Management to decompose product requirements into prioritized deliverables. Seamlessly manage shifting priorities caused by critical customer requests, using data to guide stakeholder decisions.
• Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with key business stakeholders. Establish goals, validate acceptance criteria, challenge assumptions, and hold stakeholders accountable.

Requirements:

• Experience: 3+ years of project management experience leading software engineering teams.
• Technical Background: Solid prior hands-on experience in software development (Software Engineer/Developer background is mandatory).
• Methodologies: Strong understanding of Project Management frameworks, Agile best practices, and DevOps principles in enterprise SaaS product environments.
• People Management: Proven track record of managing distributed virtual teams, coaching team leads, and delivering constructive feedback.
• Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Fluent English is required for daily international cooperation.

Technical Oversight & Stack Awareness:

(You will govern these through named specialists rather than deep hands-on coding, but architecture-level understanding is required)

• Live Stack: Java services, middleware, messaging, Node.js services.
• Legacy Stack: Good understanding of .NET / C++ / WinForms / on-prem stack to drive modernization and safe migration strategies forward.
• Data & Cache: Redis (caching, queues), MongoDB, and document data stores.
• Cloud & Infra: Cloud-native architecture, SaaS multi-tenancy, Kubernetes, and containers at scale. Infrastructure-as-code (IaC) on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Operations & Security: Observability and strict SLAs (99.9%+, on-call processes, post-mortems). Familiarity with security & compliance standards (SOC2 / ISO / GDPR).
