Using computer vision, machine learning, AR and the Mapbox location data platform, we build the basis for self-driving cars and change the way people move and explore our world.

Job Description

Joining us as a Frontend Engineer, you'll play a key role in one of the aspects of developing tools that enable self-driving cars. You’ll be working in a team that builds the annotation tooling that creates the data needed for our machine learning algorithms. You’ll also work on tooling to work with geospatial data - be it reviewing or editing map data.

What you'll do

- Own and guide the user experience of our annotation tools
- Analyze the workflows of the on-site annotation team and create a UX for them to perform their annotation tasks
- Create design mockups for frontend tooling to illustrate and test your UX hypothesis with annotators
- Implement new ReactJS frontends from scratch and maintain ReactJS based frontends using React component libraries and CSS frameworks.
- Integrate frontends with our internal systems and REST APIs
- Work together closely with full stack engineers to build new annotation tools that need both a React frontend and NodeJS/Python backend
- Provide guidance and code reviews. Be enthusiastically willing to teach others.
What we believe are important traits for this role
- You are enthusiastic about frontend development and design
- You should have some experience with front-end JavaScript frameworks. We build most of our sites and internal tools with React, Redux, and Flow.
- Familiar with modern front-end web best practices. (HTML, SVG graphics, embedded videos and media, atomic CSS, browser APIs, unit tests.)
- Experience in the jungle of modern frontend development.
- You can communicate complex ideas concisely to a wide audience. Similarly, you can explain your work in detail and walk through design decisions with teammates and collaborators.
